County Durham Community Foundation has teamed up with Star Academy to offer Community Groups across County Durham and Darlington the opportunity to create their very own radio show which will be recorded and aired on Star Radio.
What is the “Community Voices” Project?
Star Radio’s Star Academy & Star Giving will run 1:1 workshops with up to eight community groups across County Durham and Darlington with the aim of giving the Community a Voice. The workshops will support community groups to create their very own radio show based on the most important issues they each face.
Each show will be recorded, edited and aired on Star Radio.
This fund is to support any direct costs (up to a maximum of £1,000) that groups may incur in relation to the workshop.
Groups will not be required to contribute towards the costs of Star Radio’s Academy in producing the radio show.
How will this be achieved?
Each workshop will be tailored to the needs of the individual group and include:
- Introduction to Star Radio;
- Creative radio (coming up with creative content);
- Putting together a show plan;
- Interview Skills;
- Voice coaching;
- Confidence building;
- Music scheduling;
- Making features
It is hoped that each show produced will focus on a different situation that exists in our communities today. This situation could be Homelessness, Disability, Mental Health, Rural Isolation, Diversity, Unemployment, Social Issues, Addictions (or none of the above but something that is deeply relevant to your group).
