Nationwide Building Society was founded to help people into homes of their own and its ambition that everyone should have a place fit to call home stands firm today.

The Nationwide Community Grants programme awards grants of up to £50,000 to local housing projects that will strengthen local communities by supporting the most vulnerable by:

  • Preventing people from losing their home
  • Helping people in to a home
  • Supporting people to thrive within the home environment

Nationwide believes doing what is right by their members and their communities is at the heart of what it means to be a building society. Following a member vote in 2007, Nationwide invests at least 1% of pre-tax profits to support good causes each year.

The fund is open across the UK:

  • From 3 June – 5 July in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, West of England, North West, North Midlands and the North East of England
  • From 21 October – 22 November in the South

To find out which area your organisation falls in to and which Community Foundation is managing the fund locally – see our list of local authorities here
