The County Durham & Darlington NHS Health Improvement Fund provides grants to support health and wellbeing projects that improve people’s lives and enhance the work of the NHS in County Durham and Darlington.

Size of grant: up to £7,500

What type of projects can you support?
The Fund can support a range of projects and activities including projects which:

  • Enrich communities: improve the quality of life of the community
  • Individual resilience: make a difference in the health and wellbeing of people
    in the community
  • Community resilience: sustain resources available in the community to
    respond to, withstand or recover from adverse situations
  • Shared decision-making: explore ideas and make plans with people in the

What type of funding can you apply for?
Here are some examples of the type of funding you can apply for. The following list is
by no means exhaustive:

  • Equipment/materials
  • Office overheads
  • Marketing/publicity
  • Room hire
  • Salaries
  • Transport (not the purchase of)
  • Tutor costs
  • volunteer costs

Who can apply?
You do not have to be a registered charity to apply but must have charitable aims.

What the fund will not consider:

  • Unspecified contributions to general fund-raising appeals or large projects
  • For-profit or commercial elements of charitable organisations
  • Capital items for general office or company resourcing (non-project)
  • Public bodies to carry out their statutory obligations
  • Direct replacement of statutory or public funding
  • Party political activity and campaigning
  • Contingency funding

When to apply?
The closing date for applications is 11:59pm on Sunday 11 August 2024.

How to apply?
To apply for a grant, you must use our online application form. When you have completed the application in full, we aim to have a decision by October 2024
