Durham University Chamber Choir has raised £2,000 at a recent concert in London.

The choir reached out to us last autumn, wanting to support the #PovertyHurts Appeal by raising awareness and taking donations at their annual Christmas concert in St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden.

When we started the Appeal we did not expect it to reach London, where these talented young people raised £2,000 in one night and spread the word of County Durham Community Foundation to 150 people.

The hour long concert featured atmospheric festive music from the renaissance right up to the modern day. The Choir is a twenty-five strong ensemble made up of Durham’s most talented choral singers.

Our huge thanks to this amazing choir, and everyone who supported their concert, including the donor who covered the venue fee so that all proceeds could reach the appeal.

We can now match this donation up to £3,000 and turn it into grants that are going to make a heck of a difference to local people this winter.
