Bill Blewitt, who was a regular member of the Age UK North Yorkshire and Darlington Ukulele band, passed away at the weekend at the age of 99.
County Durham Community Foundation is a long-term supporter of Bill’s band and paid many visits to the joyful group over the years.
Michelle Cooper, chief executive, said: “We were all really sad to hear about Bill’s passing, and have many fond memories of watching him and his fellow musicians making people happy with their cheerful and beautiful music.
“Not many people can say they’ve made an album, but Bill could say he made two. He represented the true North East tradition of having a great time, being creative while surrounded by friends.
“We send our sincere condolences to Bill’s family and friends.”
