Brandon

How it all began
Brandon is 15 years old, both his parents are disabled and his sister Lyndsey has profound cerebral palsy and requires full-time care. Brandon is his parents young carer. Brandon is passionate about dancing and has danced since he was four years old. Unfortunately as a result of his interest he is often bullied at school and his education has suffered.
Brandon feels like he can’t ask his parents to support his dancing as money is very tight at home. He is a talented street dancer and has advanced through the ranks very quickly. Brandon has recently entered into the British and world championships in street dancing. While Brandon’s mother tries to provide a certain amount of the transport to and from the classes, she is often unable to do so because either she or her husband are unwell. In that case a local taxi firm is used and that costs £10 for the round trip. Brandon has recently been diagnosed as suffering from stress as he finds his school work, home work, house work and caring duties often get on top of him.
Making a difference
” The money I received helped with travel, accommodation and dance academy fees” my only release is the dancing classes and the occasional competition which in the main are away from home. In January I will be competing during a three day event in Blackpool Winter Gardens. The cost for this will include three days lodgings, diesel to and from Blackpool and £50 entrance fee. ”
