Individuals and families

County Durham Community Foundation can work with you and your family to help you create a lasting fund that will support the geographical area or cause that is close to your hearts. You might want to give something back to the village that you grew up in, or the area you live in now. Equally, there might be an issue that has affected your family in the past which you would now like to help other people get through. Whatever it is you would like to support, we can help make this a reality.

Even if you don’t have a clear idea of where you would like your donation to go, we can provide you with advice and information to help you decide. Alternatively, you can leave all of this up to us and we will make sure your support goes to those who need it most.

A named fund is a great way to continue your family name, or a way to involve your children and relatives in your charitable activities. You may wish to set up a named fund in memory of a loved one, perhaps with members of extended family and friends involved in the donations. A lasting Endowment fund can be passed down through the generations of your family.

The Crookhall Community Association is an example of a project that has received a grant from a family fund.

One way to set up a named fund is through a gift in your Will, ensuring that your own name or family name is continued. By leaving a legacy to County Durham Community Foundation you can rest assured that your money will only be used to support local people or projects in the way you have set out.

You can also make a general donation to County Durham Community Foundation to help support your local community.
