County Durham Community Foundation can work with you and your family to help you create a lasting fund that will support the geographical area or cause that is close to your hearts. You might want to give something back to the village that you grew up in or the area you live in now. Equally, there might be an issue that has affected your family in the past which you would now like to help other people get through. Whatever it is you would like to support, we can help make this a reality.
We are here to advise and support you through this process, so even if you don’t have a clear idea of where you would like your support to go, we can provide you with information so that you can make an informed decision. Alternatively, you can leave all of this up to us and we will make sure your support goes to those who need it most.
What are your options?
Set up a named fund
A named fund is a great way to continue your family name or a way to involve your children and relatives in your charitable activities. A lasting Endowment Fund can also be passed down through the generations of your family. Click here to find out more about setting up a named fund.
In memory funds
Another type of named fund, set up to commemorate a loved one. Over the past few years we have had a number of funds of this kind set up, with members of extended family and friends also contributing.
Acorn Funds
This is a way of gradually building up a named Endowment Fund, without having to donate a lump sum up front. From just £65 per month, you can build a lasting fund to benefit the causes of your choice and you can even support projects while your fund is building. Acorn Funds are also a great way to involve other members of your family, by donating what they can each month. Click here to find out more about Acorn Funds.
Legacies
Another great way of ensuring your name or family name is continued. By leaving a legacy to County Durham Community Foundation you can rest assured that your money will only be used to support local people or projects in the way you have set out in your will.
