Real Radio Presenter becomes Charity Ambassador

13 May 2011

LISA Shaw, of Real Radio’s ‘Breakfast with Gary and Lisa’, was yesterday announced as the first Celebrity Ambassador of County Durham Community Foundation.

Business and professional women from across the region gathered at the Radisson BLU hotel in Durham for the Community Foundation’s second Women’s Spring Lunch, hosted by Lisa. Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, over 130 women from the business and community and voluntary sectors came together to meet, exchange ideas and foster new partnerships.

This is the second year running that Lisa has hosted the Spring Lunch, which she thoroughly enjoyed last year. It was also announced that Lisa will become the first Celebrity Ambassador of County Durham Community Foundation, helping to promote and endorse their work.

Lisa said:
“Coming from County Durham, I am delighted to support our local community foundation and look forward to championing their work. The women’s lunch was an even bigger success this year, which shows that local women have an ‘appetite’ for this kind of event.”

The event, supported by Roman Ltd and Zerust UK, included a three course meal in the Auger room and nine lucky guests won raffle prizes, including tickets to Bill Bailey, Lee Evans & Alan Carr.

Guests were treated to presentations from Baroness Hilary Armstrong of Hill Top, and Kate Welch OBE, who both highlighted the importance of the community and voluntary sector during these difficult economic times.
