County Durham Community Foundation on the move!

31 July 2010

County Durham Community Foundation celebrated the official opening of their new offices on Meadowfield Industrial Estate, with the help of Sir Paul Nicholson, Lord Lieutenant of County Durham and President of the Foundation.

After seeing the Foundation through its first, very successful 15 years in operation, Sir Paul proudly opened the offices and welcomed County Durham Community Foundation into its new home.

The organisation is an independent grant-making charity whose purpose is to support community-based projects that make a real difference to the quality of life for people who are disadvantaged in County Durham and Darlington. The Foundation acts as a vehicle for individuals, families and companies to put something back into their local community and has so far given out over £17 million on behalf of its many fund holders.

Foundation Chairman Mark I’Anson, said;
“We are delighted with this move and the excellent additional facilities that it provides, with full disabled access and our own reception area. The new offices are open as usual for people to visit and we hope the move will take County Durham Community Foundation forward over the next 15 years. The development is well positioned, being only a couple of miles from the centre of Durham and has superb services in the vicinity for our staff and visitors to use.”

Kevin Whitfield, Managing Director of Wellsprings Properties Ltd, added;
“I am delighted to welcome County Durham Community Foundation into Whitfield Court, it’s great to have a charity in the development and I hope to build a lasting relationship with the Foundation.”
