Annual General Meeting & Oustanding Acheivement Awards

05 November 2012

Our annual general meeting entitled 'Building Thriving Communities' took place last week at the Xcel Centre in Newton Aycliffe Business Park.

The event, themed around healthy living, celebrated our charitable giving over the last 12 months.

Our new ambassador, Professor Sir John Burn from Newcastle University, and who is also lead clinician for NHS North East and Genetics Lead for the National Institute of Health Research, gave a fascinating speech on genetics, which gave everyone an insight to the hereditary nature of genetics.

Christina Rackley, Head of Grants and Donor Services at the Foundation, along with Professor Sir John Burn, announced this year’s Outstanding Achievement Award winner and runners-up, who had been nominated for their inspiring work and help they give to people in the community.

Veterans at ease were announced as the worthy recipients and received the Outstanding Achievement Award 2012. They alongside the three runners up; Durham Christian Partnership, IF U Care Share and Shildon People’s Centre took their place on the stage next to Durham County Council’s Chairman, Cllr Linda Marshall for a photo opportunity.

It was an inspirational day that was enjoyed by all.
