Friends of Bowes School

After-school activities are an extremely important resource for families with young children, especially for those living in isolated rural areas where other facilities are out of reach.

Friends of Bowes School provide a breakfast school and an after school-club which benefits children, parents and carers. This club is a vital part of the community as there are no other projects like it in the area.

Thanks to the Northumbrian Water Community Fund, funding of £795 was given to Friends of Bowes School, to keep the drama and dance club running and further develop its activities. The children from Bowes School are now having fun putting on productions such as ‘A mid-Summer Night’s Dream’ at their after-school drama club.

The friends group was so happy to receive the grant and pleased they’d be able to carry on the project.
