Grant Range: up to £1,000

Grant Award Timings: typically 4 - 6 weeks from submission of application

The Respite Programme is made up of a number of Funds managed on behalf of donors by County Durham Community Foundation (CDCF). The Programme aims to provide grants to support individuals of any age with a long term illness, or disability and their carers in need of a respite holiday.

Applicants can choose where they would like to go – either in the UK or Europe and have the choice, based on their individual needs and preferences. An application can be made for a short weekend break or a longer one or two week holiday either a package or tailor-made holiday that best meets their needs. All holidays will need to be booked by our appointed specialist independent travel agent: Dawson and Sanderson at one of their local branches. Holidays have to be booked in person at the Dawson and Sanderson branch they cannot be booked online.

Who can apply?

Social workers and health care professionals who support individuals with a life limiting illness, disability, dependency, recent bereavement or hospitalization. To be eligible to apply for support Individuals need to be living in the following areas:

• Darlington
• Hartlepool
• Middlesbrough
• Redcar & Cleveland
• Stockton-on-Tees

Respite for people with neurological conditions:

Applications should be completed by case workers, support workers, social workers or other professionals working in related fields, on behalf of their client who can be an individual of any age with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions living in the following areas:

• County Durham
• Darlington
• Gateshead
• South Shields
• Sunderland
• Local authorities in the old County of Cleveland
