High Sheriff Youth Awards Scheme 2018

The High Sheriff Youth Awards Scheme, managed by County Durham Community Foundation, makes annual awards in recognition of groups in the community who encourage useful and beneficial pursuits for local young people.

The scheme is supported by the Sir James Knott Trust and the Community Foundation and the current High Sheriff, who serves for one year from April 2017, is Mrs Caroline Peacock of Bishop Auckland.

In 2018 the awards will focus on youth groups who work on two particular themes:

  • Supporting young people affected by mental health issues and/or young offenders to help turn their lives around
  • Supporting young people to be upstanding citizens and /or deterred from criminal activities

Award Amount: up to £2,500
Closing Date: Wednesday, 24th January2018
Grant Award Date: Thursday, 15th March 2018
