DUCK Local Charity Fund 2018

DUCK Local Charity Fund 2018

The DUCK Local Charities Fund was established by the Durham University Charities Committee to fund specific projects which benefit the local community. For the 2018 round of funding CDCF has matched funding raised by DUCK and we are working together to find and support local groups.

The members of the Durham University Charities Committee are incredibly proud and grateful to study in the North East. Whilst students are a transient population within the city, they seek to create a legacy through the Local Charities Fund, to benefit local people and places by funding specific projects.

Applications that specify how money will be spent to support specific goals are encouraged. We want to hear how this will be spent e.g. rent, equipment, activities? However, it is understand that this level of specificity may not always be possible. Use this fund to best suit your organisation.

This is a fund for Local Charities and Groups, where ‘Local’ is defined as those operating in County Durham and Teeside, and whose work impacts the local community. This is part of DUCK’s commitment to the local community. For this reason, we applications cannot be accepted from international charities, even if they are based locally (a charity based in Newcastle, working in Africa, would not be eligible). However, applications from local branches of national charities (for example, ‘Durham and Chester le Street Mind’) can be accepted.

Typically, the DUCK Local Charity Fund distributes grants of between £100 and £1000; although applications outside of this bracket are considered, please do not request sums which far exceed £1000.
