Chief Executive

Barbara Gubbins, is currently Chief Executive of County Durham Community Foundation (CDCF) which now manages around 200 funds and has given out £35 million since it was set up 22 years ago. CDCF has an endowment of circa £13 million. Before moving to CDCF in December 2008, Barbara was Chief Executive of The Children's Foundation, a North East Regional child health charity. Barbara spent most of her career in project management, marketing & PR before moving into the voluntary sector in 1999, working initially at the Community Foundation serving Tyne & Wear and Northumberland, as Development Director. Barbara was a magistrate for 16 years and specialised for a time in family matters but stepped down in January 2014 due to other commitments. She has also been involved with mentoring young people at risk of offending and was a school governor in the west end of Newcastle. In June 2012, Barbara was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of County Durham and in the same year received Business in the Community’s Marks & Spencer Sieff Award which recognises individuals who bring businesses and communities together to benefit society. Barbara sits on the UKCF Membership Committee and is also chair of the Northern Directors’ Group. In 2017 Barbara was delighted to receive a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Chief Operating Officer

Margaret manages the grants and finance functions, delivering measurable, cost-effective results and implementing larger scale projects. Working in partnership with the Chief Executive and board of Trustees Margaret co-ordinates all internal operations. The Chief Operating Officer ensures that all grants programmes are delivered effectively, manages the human resources functions and guarantees the provision of strong financial support to the organisation.

Joanne Turnbull
Joanne Turnbull
Office Manager

Joanne is responsible for organising and coordinating office operations and procedures in order to ensure efficiency, including the delegation of duties to administrative team resources. Overseeing recruitment, management and development of volunteers and supporting the senior management team and board of trustees.
